I don’t think there’s anything more creepy than hearing Koala’s fight

I’m in Nashville for the week for a “country radio seminar”… Basically, I get to see some of your favorite artists (today I hung with Jamey Johnson, Josh Turner, Gary Allan, Sugarland, Trailer Choir, Easton Corbin and more!).

When I got back to room, this was waiting on my bed from Taylor Swift!

Someone sent me this survey today. I had so much fun filling out! My answers are below. Copy the blank one and play along!

The 5 most important songs, albums or concerts and why they are/were so meaningful to you:

1. Mary Chapin Carpenter – “The Long Way Home”
Sometimes we all need a little reminder to slow down and enjoy the things that really matter in life. “Accidents and inspiration lead you to your destination” is one of the greatest song lyrics ever written.

2. Johnny Rivers – “Secret Agent Man”
This song plays a major role in one of my most vivid childhood memories. My dad would put this record on and I would stand on his feet and dance. It still stops me in my tracks when I hear it.

3. Billy Joel – “Only the Good Die Young”
This is my go-to song when I need a pick me up. How can you not smile while listening to it?

4. Eric Clapton – “Wonderful Tonight”
When I was in fourth grade, I decided this song would be my wedding song. I haven’t changed my mind.

5. John Mellencamp – “I Need a Lover”
I own two concert hoodies – John Mellencamp is one of them. I’ve been a fan since I could remember… And c’mon, who can’t relate to this song?

Bonus Questions:

A highly regarded song or album you’ve never heard: Oasis “Be Here Now”

An “important” piece of music you just don’t get: Phish

An album you played or listened to incessantly: Eric Church “Carolina” and “The Essential Mary Chapin Carpenter” (I’ve played the CD so many times, it skips.)

One obscure or non-country song everyone should listen to right now: Melissa Etheridge “I Run For Life”

Now, it’s your turn!

Instant Dutch hero Sven Kramer won speed skating gold (the Dutch love speed skating), and is prompted by an American reporter to give his name and sport. His response: “Are you stupid?” Dutch heroes are awesome. In his defense though, asking someone who they are after just winning a gold medal at the olympics is a slap in the face.

Ever overhear a bad idea and want to intervene?

I was grocery shopping Valentine’s morning, when I overheard two stockboys contemplating great gift ideas. The guy with his back to me suggested, “Why don’t you get her a stuffed animal and spray it with your cologne!” What sane woman overhearing this wouldn’t step in! Do guys REALLY think this is a good idea?! I had to dart a horrified “noooo” look at the guy accepting the idea.  I think I saved that poor girlfriend’s valentine’s day, and picked up awesome melons in the process :-b

I was helping my girlfriend get her Neon down to the car dealership where it was to be traded in, in Bloomsburg. The reason for it being traded in the first place, was that the oil light had been blazing on (in red) informing her of the need for added lubrication, un-heeded, for the better part of the week. She’d already picked out a replacement, informed the dealer of the rapping engine, negotiated a fair trade-in price and planned for a delivery of her car….all that was now necessary was to get her badly abused Neon to Bloomsburg for the trade-in.

Since the car had been stranded at my house for a week it was easy for me to get it ready for the hour long trek down to Columbia County. Prior to the trip I loaded the engine with Slick 50 (a product used to coat the inside of an older engine and seal up the gaps that cause power & compression loss), and 4 quarts of oil and prepped for liftoff! The first half of the trip went surprisingly well. We stopped briefly at a gas station, and as I’d expected I would have to, re-added to the engine 2 quarts of oil (since it had leaked a lot out in the drive). Then we slowly made our way out of Plymouth and onto what would be the final miles of her Neon’s running life. As I roared along I was thankful for the darkness of the night that hid my face, I drove slowly in disbelief of how the car continued, in spite of all the indications that it was unable to be driven at all. I watched as she followed me smiling because of how stupid I looked driving a car in such distress….then it happened…the engine blew!!

As we entered Route 11 the Neon started to make an incredible noise, it was deafening, it started to lose power, smoke, and shutter….and I’m not sure if you’ve ever been in a car that blows its engine, but I can tell you that you will never forget it. The structure of an automobile can withstand an awful lot but it seems to be challenged when an engine blows. As we began to climb up a very slight upgrade the car whined, and rattled, and “gave up the ghost”. The engine blew at 2/3’s of the way through the trip making me a liar, and at the same time an even worse gambler than I would’ve claimed to be. The car shook, and seemed to lift off the ground as the wheel lunged sideways, then slowly wound down to a humble death. I was told after the fact that the billow of smoke that came from the car was blinding, and would’ve been even so in broad daylight.

We sat in the blinding snow/rain storm for ¾’s of an hour until the tow truck took the now deceased Neon to its final resting place. Then we went and had a well needed beer.

This guy goes on a rant about World Of Warcraft and Star Trek. Any parent who raises their  kid up like this should be sterilized.

My stereotype found me while I was trying to relax and have a non-DJ related night out for once.  I thought we were going out to eat; little did we know, a crazed DJ would turn our booth into a one-man gyrating club.

Seriously.  He kept dirty dancing against our table of food.

crazy dj

This DJ was not only trying to start a line dance around our tables while wearing a glitter wig, but he was also talking over ever song.

First rule of being a DJ:  Hit the “post” of the song and SHUT UP!

I was so embarrassed for him, AND our profession.

Who have you seen make your job look bad?

I thought it was a great Christmas present. I opened it and my heart smiled, but with it came dissapointment. It was 4 original episodes from my childhood show, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The minute I saw it I knew this could go 2 ways. Either I would watch it and remember it just as it was, an awesome cartoon about ninja reptiles. Or a huge dissapointment which puts my childhood into question. It was unfortunately the second result. The animation was bad and the jokes were cheesy. Have I grown up or have my standards gotten higher? I still watch and enjoy Spongebob and Icarly on nickalodeon. Either way I’m upset because I feel like my childhood was cheated.
