What I Did on My Thanksgiving Vacation

Surprised the hubby with an early birthday gift:

Tix to the EAGLES vs Giants game, November 21st at Lincoln Financial Field!

It was the first NFL game for the both of us!
…although, I gotta say, how am I supposed to follow the game when there are no tv-produced arrows on the field?! (lol!)

You don’t know how spoiled you are watching a game on tv.  We take for granted the extensive tv replays and animated cheat-sheets; there are no yellow-circled players while watching it in living color. When Hobbs was injured, spectators couldn’t get updates in the stands as extensive as what you hear from the network commentators.  In fact, if there’s a bad play executed by the home team, don’t expect to see the replay on the Jumbotron.  It’s bad Karma.

I’m obviously a novice NFL viewer.  But, watching the excitment on Ethan’s face as we entered the stadium was priceless.  A friend was very generous in surprising Ethan further for his birthday with field passes, which had us speechless…
…until I screamed out, “DeeeeeeeeeeSeeeeeeeeeeeeeeean” when Desean Jackson headed onto the field to warm up! He was only a few feet away from us, and started dancing to my shouts!!!  How cool!!

By the way, he dances like me!  :-)
(Joe Thomas says revealing that tidbit officially took away Jackson’s street cred)

Miss New York Crashed The Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade and Fought Her Way Onto the Miss USA Float

If you like STONE COLD CRAZY WOMEN, look no further than America’s beauty pageant circuit. Those broads are NUTS. Which is why this story didn’t even make us blink.

–In this year’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, there was a float featuring the current Miss USA, Rima Fakih. Rima was Miss Michigan, and won the Miss USA 2010 pageant back in May.

–Well . . . just as the parade was getting under way on Thanksgiving, one of the girls who Rima BEAT showed up. She’s Davina Reeves, and she was Miss New York. She didn’t make the Miss USA pageant top 15.

–But that didn’t stop her from wanting to get in on all the parade glory. So Davina fought her way past security . . . climbed onto the float . . . and waved, smiled, and signed autographs for FIVE BLOCKS before parade organizers could get her down.

–Rima kept her cool. She talked calmly to Davina . . . while the security guards and Miss USA handlers were FREAKING OUT. Eventually, they talked Davina down without a major incident.

–Davina was not arrested for her stunt. DONALD TRUMP, who now runs the entire Miss USA world, didn’t have any comment.

Yes, it’s true, I will be singing tomorrow!  I have recorded the next greatest Christmas hit!  It is a spoof off of the Grinch theme song.  Why was a singing a spoof from the Grinch movie?  Well, I cannot tell you that, you will have to listen live!  But speaking of singing, I have been throwing the idea around of releasing a Christmas holiday cd.  What do you think?  Would anyone be interested in a copy?  Even better  what if we sold these cd’s and donated them to charity?  What do you think?  Nothing says a good stocking stuffer like a Christmas Cd from the Wake Up Call!

#1.) 90% of the people who travel for Thanksgiving go by car. Travel increases by 50% Thanksgiving week, and most people are on the road today, the day before Thanksgiving.

#2.) The average person who travels for Thanksgiving puts in 214 miles.

#3.) 99% of the turkeys that the U.S. imports come from Canada. Although the vast majority of our turkey is home-grown. We import about $7 million worth from Canada and produce $3.6 billion worth here.

#4.) Tofurky has twice as much fat as regular turkey. A serving of Tofurky oven roasted slices has three grams of fat. Real turkey has 1.56 grams. The fake stuff also has nearly twice as much protein.

#5.) Macy’s used to release the character balloons at the end of their Thanksgiving Day parade and offer a reward for their return. They stopped in 1933 after idiots tore one balloon apart fighting over it, and a guy in a small plane nearly crashed into Broadway trying to snatch one out of the air.

My “remodeling my house” bug has bitten again. I’m redoing my sister’s room this time around. Although it took me three weeks and a ton of paint and plaster to change the light fixture (don’t ask), I think the rest of the room turned out pretty good… Check it out! (And yes, I did put together the bed myself… If you’ve ever put Ikea furniture together, you know what a project that is!)

So am I really doing THAT bad.  I mean I know I’m doing a not so great job, but terrible, awful, “you should just skip it”, bad…. come on!  I mean, granted I have yet to learn the opening or closing to the segment, could you imagine having Eric and Fender, sitting there, staring at you, just waiting for your every screw up?  Plus, when you do hiccup, you get that awful buzzer in your ear!

So what do you think?  Is the E on Froggy that bad?  Where is the sympathy card here?  Or do I not get one on this occasion?

Here’s a GREAT excuse to eat Thanksgiving dinner with your family, then get the hell out before everyone starts pointing out each other’s faults. Just say: “I’d love to stay, but I’ve GOT to get to Wal-Mart NOW to buy a $19 Blu-ray player.”

–Black Friday is starting earlier than ever this year . . . fewer and fewer retailers are waiting until 5:00 A.M. on the Friday after Thanksgiving to open their doors.

–Wal-Mart has announced it will be starting its Black Friday sale at MIDNIGHT on Thanksgiving night. And they’re not alone. Old Navy and The Gap are starting at midnight too.

–Toys “R” Us is beating them by two hours . . . they’ll open at 10:00 P.M. on Thanksgiving and start offering their deals.

–Sears and Kmart are trying to get the jump on everyone . . . they’ll be opening and offering their best sale offers at 6:00 A.M. on Thanksgiving morning.

–For now, Target is still set to open at 4:00 A.M. on Black Friday, Best Buy is set to open at 5:00 A.M., and Costco isn’t planning to join in until 9:00 A.M.

–But there’s a major price war going this holiday season, as these stores are desperately competing to grab your gift budget . . . however small it is in this economy.

–So other stores could still respond and push up their Black Friday opening times, too.

Well, Lady and the Tramp has now become a horror flick for me.  Yuck.  She’s definitely NOT the Lady in this pic…

Have you ever “un-friended” someone on Facebook? My ex was the king of it. I noticed I was gone one day, THEN he request me again about 6 months later. Ha. This one’s for him.

I found myself at a loss for words today, as I stood within the crowd of our fallen soldier.  As I stood there,  I noticed how amazing it was, to see so many different types of people uniting together, flags in hand, to show respect for a man who gave his life for us.   There seemed to be somewhat of a silence among the large crowd, but the silence was not eerie, but more calming and respectful.

I never had the chance to meet Dale Kridlo, but I felt as if I had.  With family and friends outside, paying their respect, I too gathered the same feeling as them. It was sad standing their, but at the same time it made me feel proud.  Proud to live in this Country, proud to be an American, and proud to see there are still many people who love this country just as much as I do.
