Nick no more
Posted in: Jake
For those of us who grew up with Nickelodeon in the 90’s you shared my pain this past week. Nickelodeon decided to update its logo with a more uniform look. For those of you who remember (and who can forget) Nick had the famous slime splat logo. But last week everything changed and we waved goodbye to the symbol that defined my childhood. Doc says it’s time to grow up but why should I? Why should any of us? Growing up just means taking life too seriously anyway. It means being ashamed to go with your buddies to see the latest Pixar or Disney movie. Or being ashamed to go to the fair for the rides. Well forget that!! I’m sad to see it go, and hopefully some of you share my pain.

The old logo on the left and new one on the right

How much is that doggy on the light pole?
Posted in: Jake
This week we started up with Wandering Wednesday, the Perkins editions! I had a great time there but one thing really disturbed me. Somebody went to go eat inside but while they went in they tied up their dog to a lightpole in the parking lot. Now I know what you’re saying, that I laughed at the duct taped kitty but feel sudden sympathy for this dog. Well you’re right and that’s the way it is. But you can’t deny the fact that this is just a big accident waiting to happen. In fact while I was staring at the poor dog a car came zooming in the parking lot and narrowly missed it. The driver didn’t even see it! Which brings me to my point….IF YOU CAN’T HANDLE A DOG THEN DON’T OWN ONE!!

I could've helped out the dog…but I took a picture instead

Parking Woes
Posted in: Jake
So if you haven’t been listening lately you haven’t heard about the latest dilema at my brand spankin new place. I’ve got neighbors who for some reason think they own the street! It first started with a note on my car asking me to not park in front of their house. Then I parked in front of my own walkway and she came outside and yelled at me. I don’t know what’s with people around here thinking they own a public street. But guess what? YOU DON’T!!
I posted a picture of the parking situation. The first car is mine, and behind it is theirs. Not only do they want me to leave a spot for their white SUV that they can’t even park properly, but also a spot behind it for their other car. IT’S WAR!!

The costume I bought and wore on TLPD
September 19th is a special day and one that we can all enjoy. But what happens for us when it lands on a Saturday? Celebrate it Monday of course! Unfortunately several factors played into this years TLPD to turn out not as glamorous as the last. I was as sick as a dog and trying to cover it up. It somewhat slipped my mind. And it loses something when we don’t celebrate it on the actual day. Oh well, all I need now is ideas for next year! Now it’s time to return my costume to Wal Mart and see if they say anything….

Moving stinks
Posted in: Jake
3 apartments in a year should be a record. That’s exactly what I achieved recently. I left my cave of a place in Dupont and moved down the street to Pittston. It’s a whole extra mile away from the radio station, but I guess I can sacrafice getting up 5 minutes earlier. Doc and our promotions director Paul helped me and decided that they’d make my new nieghbors uncomfortable by yelling out random spanish words. It worked, because I’ve been getting puzzled looks ever since. Even though I continually smile and say hello, they seem to think that’s the only english I’ve learned. Cmon people, I’m from the suburbs!!!

A season with Penguins
Posted in: Jake

THE CUP!!
As excited as I was about seeing and taking a picture with the stanley cup, I’m even more excited to be working with the WB Penguins! I learned that they want me to host pretty much all of the games. You can’t imagine the smell though near the locker room. Think about your dirtiest pair of socks and magnetize that by 100. It’s worth it though. See ya at the games!!!
